Sarah and Ian's Move to Ottawa

The story so far...having planned and booked a three month trip to South America, we were given a difficult decision to make when Ian was offered a job in Canada. After much hard thinking, we took the job, but get the best of both worlds as we still have two weeks in Brazil and Chile before arriving in Ottawa. We are now living in Ottawa and enjoying the big adventure of living somewhere new. This is the story of our experience...

OAPs Gather No Moss

Sarah and I went to see the new film Four Brothers on early Saturday. This is gangster film set in Detroit and as such has lots of violence and bad language. We were surprised then just before the film started, to see a elderly couple of ladies sit down to watch the film. I don’t think they realised what the film was about and were maybe expecting a pleasant film about family life. They sat through the whole film, though I suspect this was because of arthritis. (We don’t recommend the film).

This weekend has been all about pensioners for us because on Sunday the Rolling Stones played a concert at the stadium down the road from our flat. Tickets were $300 each so we got cheap seat tickets and stood outside the stadium. The band were very kind to the thrifty people outside as they had two large screens mounted on the side of the stage and angled to face the road. We’re not huge Stones fans, but we listened for 40 minutes and didn’t recognise a single song. Of course, as soon as we’d walked away they played Satisfaction. I guess that’s (Only) Rock ‘n’ Roll, but I like it.

The Stones are staying in Ottawa tomorrow as they are filming the video for a new song. They didn’t want us as extras.
